I was able to connect my Chapter 1 reading to my own classroom setting. Fortunately, I have the experience of using differentiated instruction in my classroom planning for all content areas. I had participated in a UDDI Universal Design for Differentiated Instruction a couple of years back. We had to implement this lesson planning design and instruction the following school year and have so since.
It is such a support for my students' needs. I have a wide range of learning needs and styles in my classroom. Using my assessment data, it helps with my guided reading groups and math skills.

Learning...again!
"Learning is finding out what we already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers." -- Richard Bach
As a new semester of learning and hard work begins, I try to remind myself of the 17 reasons in Room E117- why I continue to learn, do and teach....I look forward being part of this class!
My name is Lorna Gonzalez. I teach 1st grade at CDR W.C. McCool Elementary School on Naval Base. I enjoy working with the little ones with developing skills. It has been a wonderful 12 years of balanced literacy and guiding reading with sight words, phonics sessions, counting to 100, colorful manipulatives and more. My greatest joy is seeing the leap of growth in learning in my group of smiling faces!
